Learning a foreign language is an enriching experience that allows students to become more aware of other cultures and be sensitive to their differences. It enables them to become a global citizen of the future. As Australia embraces a global future, we face a skills shortage: the ability to understand and operate in languages other than our own.
At BBSC, we have developed real life connections with the community to help enrich student language skills and experiences as well as general student wellbeing and relationships. Bonds and camaraderie are developed when the class joins to do activities such as cooking and art and cultural projects and a potential language and cultural trip. Friends made in a language class are often friends for life.
Learning a foreign language boosts student self-esteem and self-confidence as well as making them more culturally aware. In Languages, students will learn to work well with others in a small classroom environment as well as gain the confidence to challenge their independent language and communication skills.
