Performing arts

Brisbane Bayside State College has a thriving instrumental music program and choirs.

Brisbane Bayside State College offers a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities in all areas of the Arts for those students wishing to extend and challenge themselves in their chosen area of speciality. These opportunities are supported by our students' ability to experience the Arts in the classroom from year 7 to 12.

Dance: Dance excellence programme, competitive dance squad for year 7 to 12, opportunity to compete at State-wide Dance Eisteddfods, guest artist workshops and excursions.

Music: Instrumental music extension offerings include stage band, concert band, choir, individual or small group instrumental lessons, residential music camps, fanfare competition, extensive public performances in real world events.

Drama: Class performances, 'scene' project, guest artists and workshops, student devised works performed for live audiences and at competitions.

Art: In house art gallery, artists-in-residence, excursions to galleries and outdoor exhibitions, community based projects, opportunity to enter creative generations.

Media: Industry-based workshops, film and TV movie night, competitions.

The arts: Performance excursions, arts council and community-based artist performances and workshops, school-devised stage musicals and film productions, twilight carnivale arts celebrations performance night, Bayside excellence in the arts talent program (BEAT) extension arts class during sport time for year 8 to 12.

Our staff: Our Arts teachers are specialists in the Arts and have a wide range of school based and industry experience. They are extensively trained in their area/s of expertise and regularly update their subject knowledge.
